Connecting the Dots: How to have a successful “launch”
Launching a new service, or a launch of any kind whether that be a new brand, a push for new clients, a new programme, can feel like a chaotic whirlwind of unconnected dots. Resonate?
There’s the offer itself, marketing strategies, backend operations, customer journey, sales process, and so much more. It’s no wonder that business owners and solopreneurs can feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of tasks and details to manage- the dots!
So how do you connect those dots and create a cohesive plan. Here are some things to think about.
Define Your Offer
First things first, get crystal clear on what you’re offering. This isn’t just about the product or service itself, but also understanding what it will give the buyer, who your target audience are, and why YOUR thing. Ask yourself:
What problem does my service solve?
Who will benefit the most from it?
Why is it better than existing solutions?
Once you have this - you can move onto marketing prep.
Craft a Compelling Marketing Strategy
Your marketing strategy is the bridge between your service and your audience. It’s essential to craft messages that resonate and create a buzz. Here’s how you can connect the dots in your marketing efforts:
Content Calendar: Plan your content ahead of time. This includes blog posts, social media updates, emails, and any other content you’ll use to promote your launch.
Multichannel Approach: Use multiple channels to reach your audience. Think social media, email marketing, webinars, and even partnerships with influencers or other businesses.
Storytelling: Share the story behind your service. People connect with stories, so let them know why you’re passionate about your offer and how it can change their lives.
The Backend Operation!
Efficient backend operations might seem a bore but if you can nail this early on it wll save you so much time and energy during your launch. Here’s how to keep things running smoothly:
Automation: Use tools to automate. This can include email marketing and scheduling social media posting
Systems and Processes: Develop clear systems and processes for handling what happens when people buy, customer inquiries, and any other operational tasks.
This also links with customer journey….
Enhance the Customer Journey
A seamless customer journey is so important for converting leads into customers. Here’s how to ensure a positive experience:
Onboarding Process: Create a smooth onboarding process for new customers. This could include a welcome email series (or 1 email is fine), info about what they need to do/ know etc - make them feel confident you are on it.
Customer Support: Make sure your customers can easily reach you with any questions or concerns.
Feedback Loop: Actively seek feedback from your customers and use it to improve your service.
Refine Your Sales Process
Your sales process should guide potential customers from awareness to purchase simply. Here’s how to connect the dots in your sales process:
Lead Nurturing: Nurture leads who have shown interest but haven’t yet made a purchase.
Clear Calls to Action: Ensure that every piece of content has a clear call to action, guiding potential customers towards the next step.
Simplified Checkout: Make the checkout process as simple and user-friendly as possible. Reduce the number of steps and offer multiple payment options.
Monitor and Analyse Performance
Once your service is launched, it’s important to track its performance and make data-driven decisions. Here’s how you can do that:
Analytics Tools: Use tools like Google Analytics, social media insights, and CRM reports to track the performance of your launch.
KPIs: Define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of your launch. These could include sales numbers, lead generation or even the number of times oyou mention it in your marketing!
Adjust and Optimise: Be prepared to adjust your strategy based on the data. If something isn’t working as expected, tweak your approach and test again. Testing and Learning is key.
Build a Support Network
Having a strong support network can make a big difference during a launch. Consider these aspects:
Mentorship and Coaching: Engage with a business mentor or coach (like me!) to provide guidance, accountability, and support throughout your launch. This can help you to overcoming overwhelm and staying on track as well as save time and energy with better decision making..
Peer Support: Join entrepreneur accountability groups or networks where you can share experiences, get advice, and stay motivated.
Prepare for Post-Launch
What happens after the launch is just as important as the launch itself. Here’s how to prepare:
Customer Follow-Up: Reach out to new customers to thank them for their purchase, offer support, and gather feedback.
Review and Reflect: Conduct a post-launch review to identify what worked well and what could be improved. Use this information to refine future launches.
Financial Planning
Ensuring you have the financial resources to support your launch is crucial. Here’s how to manage it:
Budgeting: Create a budget for your launch, covering expenses, operational costs, and any additional resources you might need. Think about your sales forecast and what different scenarios might look like.
Cash Flow Management: Ensure you have enough cash flow to support the launch and handle any unexpected expenses.
