What to do when you dont know where to start in the morning
What to do when you don't know where to start in the morning. We've all been there. We sit down at our desks. We stand up again, go to the kitchen, make a cup of tea, come back. Sit down again. Think we'll just take our emails so have a little look at our emails. Maybe reply to a few admin-y bits
Pick up our phones have a scroll and Instagram. Then LinkedIn. Back to checking emails again. Then another cup of tea and it goes on and before you know it it's 11 o'clock.
You know you've got loads to do. In fact, the swirling to do list is there in your head. But you just keep pushing it away, because you can't catch it or see anything clearly in it.
Today, I'm going to give you three easy things you can do if you find yourself in this situation.
Before I go into the tips, though, you do have to recognise when you are in this state in order to then take action to combat it. So one thing you could do if you find yourself doing this regularly, or on a certain day of the week, is popping alarm on your phone that says “are you doing what you should be doing?” That way it will prompt you to consider where you're at and take action to change or combat it.
So back to the ideas that you can try If you find yourself really not knowing where to start(so you don't start anywhere).
Here are three things you can do.
Forget the to do list go back to your goals. This is where everything should be leading to. So have a look at your goals snd think specifically what is it that you want to achieve this month, or this week, to take you closer to 1,2, or 3 of those goals.
What can you do today that is going to have the biggest impact on that. Forget the rest of the swirling to do list and do that.
Prioritise. The second thing you can do this one is good if you really can't forget about the swirling to-do list so find number 1 hard) is to do some prioritisation.
Use the principles of covey’s matrix. (You can read more about that in my other blog here).
First mark down everything that's in your head, write it down.
Next, you need to try to pick out all the things that are important and urgent.
Go through your list and pick up those tasks that you need to do right away, those that will make a difference to your business; and start with one of those.
Eliminate Distractions. Finally, try eliminating distractions. Often it is these distractions that are stopping us being able to focus on figuring out what to do next and getting on with it. So whatever it is that normally distracts you get rid of it in some way.
Whether that's putting your phone in a different room
Or closing the door so you can't see the mess in the kitchen.
Or installing a website blocker so you stopped scrolling, mindless celebrity news on your laptop
I hope that's been helpful and that you can try some of these tips to keep creating your thriving business and generating the income you deserve. So you can live the life that you want
