8 things to remember to do before you go on holiday

Check passports are all in date

This is something you should always do at the point of BOOKING your holiday. That way it gives you time to get new passports sorted if they are needed. However if you’ve not done that then – check them now!

2. Cancel any regular deliveries – milk, Gousto etc.

It’s a waste of money, food and also a sure sign to criminals that you're away if deliveries like this start piling up outside your house whilst you’re away – remember to cancel them

3. Sort airport parking or transfers

To save any stress make sure to research and organise how you will get to the airport well in advance.

4. Remember travel insurance

Sorting out travel insurance is not something worth skimping on. It’s worth getting a year long policy if you go away more than once a year – they usually cover you for shorter trips too (obviously check the particular policy you buy).

5. Order your holiday currency

It is so much more cost efficient to organise your holiday currency in advance than to take it out of a machine at the airport – The post office tend to do good rates. You don’t need too much as so much goes onto cards now but it’s always useful to have some cash.

6. Book restaurants for first few nights at destination – Tripadvisor

I can’t stress this one enough. There is nothing worse than wandering around (especially with kids in tow!) , trying to find somewhere a) suitable and b) with a table free, when everyone is hungry. Even worse when you find somewhere and it’s rubbish – and you realise that if you had taken 2 minutes to look online you would have seen all the poor reviews. So a few days before you go away try and book your restaurants for at least the first night or two – you will be glad you did!

7. Put your digital docs somewhere easily accessible

eg Google drive. Rather than scrambling around searching emails etc when youre in a rush – save all the documents somewhere easily accessible. Another good way to do it is to save the screenshots as photos in your phone so they are accessible even if you have no mobile reception or wifi.

  • •Any passenger locator forms

  • Boarding passes

  • Hotel address

8. Leave your home tidy!

There is nothing worse than getting home after a long journey and finding the house in a mess. Take 15 mins to tidy up before you leave for hols and you will reap the benefits on your return!
