How can I make my phone easier to use?

As a small business Founder or busy professional, our phones are so useful aren’t they? We couldn’t live without them, and they help us with everything, from staying in touch with friends, to online banking, to taking and storing photographs.

But sometimes phones can get out of control, or be a pain. If for example you can never find the app you need quickly then it can really hold you up and be pretty frustrating, as well as leading us to think "I will do that later", which leads to more thoughts in our mental clutter cloud. I’ve pulled out my top 3 tips to help make that phone even more of a help and less of a cause of stressful situations!

1. How to organise phone apps

Is it a common occurrence for you to be scrolling looking for a certain app on your phone? If so, spend 30 mins sorting your apps into folders. Categorise into groups that make sense for you.I have a "school" folder that contains homework apps and parent pay apps for example. And a "shopping" folder with apps like Amazon, Next and H&M. A “google” folder with all the google apps in it. Then theres a games folder for those games the kids have downloaded on there (I don’t need them cluttering up my apps!). If you start the exercise of grouping your apps up, you will soon find categories that make sense for you.

2. Put the apps you use most on the first screen (not within a folder)

This works both ways – if you want to stop yourself using an app quite so much (Social media “sinkholes” im talking about you!), put them within a folder in the hardest to reach part of your phone! This will help you find those apps you use a lot quickly (for me that’s the weather app and whastapp!)

3. Get your passwords under control

Something useful ive spoken about before is using a password vault of some kind. I use Lastpass and tis remembers (securely) all the passwords for my various logins. It works across my phone and laptop too. Means my info is secure and saves me faffing about finding passwords

I hope this helps you be less likely to throw your phone out of the window in times of frustration!

Come say hello on Instagram or LinkedIn and let me know if you tried any of the 3 tips!
